Overview

Writing is similar to the opening of a chess game: the pieces must be put in place at the start. The key to successful stories and descriptions lies in structure and planning. Both of these are at the heart of what we do in creative writing. Equally popular with boys and girls each workshop is different and offers new and exciting themes so we are thrilled to see children returning again and again to these hugely popular workshops.

By writing a piece each day and talking it through whilst still fresh, the children can immediately see what they have done well and how to improve their work. The groups are small and age-appropriate allowing us to build an understanding of how to write stories based on our “Six Secrets for Success.” 

We focus on what is required by schools at the various age levels, but we also want to engender a sense of daily achievement and enjoyment. We know the talent is there, we just help to open the box.

How it works

FULHAM PREP 2024 Dates: 28-31 May, 8-12th July, 15-19th July, 22nd-26th July, 19-23rd Aug, 27-29 Aug (TBC), 21st-25th Oct, 28th Oct -1st Nov, 16th Dec-19th Dec

Times: 10am-2pm

Venue: Fulham Prep School, 200 Greyhound Rd, London W14 9RG

Includes: Supervised outdoor time, snacks and drinks; please bring packed lunch
Suitable for: Children in Years 1-6 (Year 1 students can join after the Christmas holidays), suitable for writers of all abilities
Max. students: 10/12 per group

Notes:

• The material used in this workshop will change each week so students can join multiple times throughout the year to maximise their learning.

• Children may be placed in mixed year groups according to bookings.

• For workshops from July, please book the new year group your child will enter in September 2024.

• Price varies with venue and is based on number of days in the holiday. From 3 days to 5 days.
