How it works

Children should be registered by booking and paying through the website. You will need to select a venue, term and entry point (7,8,11+).

You will receive an information email in the week before the start date with further details on the course.

We try to group children by target schools where possible. We understand that this does not indicate a child’s ability and will sometimes make further amendments to groups through the term. If we find that a child is not keeping up with the rest of the group, or if we find that they would be better suited to a more advanced group, we may change the grouping accordingly.

Each week the children will receive a booklet which will contain the work for the day. These booklets are broken into approximately; 1 hour of English, 1 hour of Maths and 45 mins of Reasoning. Teachers go through the booklets with the children as a group and the work is then marked together. We spend our time teaching and giving instant feedback, not marking, as the work is completed so that the children learn as they go.

Students will be given their booklet and answers each week to take home and finish. The booklets contain more work than can be covered in the lesson and there will always be some work that can be finished off at home after the lessons. Parents can then use the answer sheets to mark the remaining work.

Throughout each term there will be a chance for you to have an online meeting with your child’s teacher, so you can gain some much needed feedback on their progression and where they could do with some extra help. These meetings will be arranged during the term. For Spring and Summer Term parents, there will also be a chance to join a talk with Janie Richardson (co-founder of Yellowbird Education), where she will speak on the entry processes for a range of different independent schools and be able to answer any questions you may have about the process.

FAQs

Should my child do all Sunday exam prep terms throughout the year?
This is up to you, but those children who do start early make steady progress and we get to know them well, we support them through the process as best we can.

What is your success rate?
We don’t turn children away who are not ready for the exams, we give everyone a chance to have. Ago, but we do advise that they may not be at the level needed to pass the exams. Therefore a success rate is difficult too define. We are usually correct in knowing which children will gain a place and where, depending on how they do on the day.

Do I have to pay for the whole term?
We employ our teachers and rent the school rooms for the term, so payment for the term does need to be made.

Can I do a trial session?
Sorry, we always fill up the space we have, we therefore can not offer trial sessions.

Description

Following on from several successful years of Exam Preparation classes, we are running further 7+, 8+, and 11+ Exam Prep classes on Sundays in the Spring, Summer and Autumn terms. Our weekly Sunday classes are interactive sessions where the children learn core fundamentals required for these specific exams, as well as build confidence and a passion for learning. The lessons will follow our bespoke syllabus that our experienced teachers have developed over many years of running this course. This, along with the elements of our other workshops and mock exams, has successfully helped students gain entry into top London schools.
